December 2009 — Early january 2010.
First we have some glimpses of my christmastime with my brother in Fagersta, Sweden, followed by some nice moments from my surprise visit to Iceland.
There we have some golden moments with my father and Norma on New Years eve, followed by some epicness at Ljómi 2010, which leads us nicely to dinnertime at my fathers place.

A chat with a rentscammer

I am currently looking for a place to stay here in Stockholm and as such I have put up ads here and there. One of the things to be vary of here in “Scandinavia’s Capital” are the rentscammers. These are people that try to get you to transfer money into their accounts before you even get to see the apartment.
The fact that they don’t seem to mind me setting up a “torturecave” in their apartment is also a dead give-away.

This guy contacted me the day before yesterday and proceded to chat with me through the gmail chat.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I am currently looking for an apartment. A lot of scammers contact you when you are in this process, and they are fairly easily spotted.
The fact that this one doesn’t mind me setting up a torturecave in his flat gives him away…

[ I chatted with another rentscammer about two weeks ago who said almost exactly the same thing, saying that he was studying in Scotland and such. Might be the same guy.]

I threw together a 2.20 minute compilation of events from the last two weeks, mostly at random. Hope you enjoy!

Finished a 7 week long idea development module today in school and pitched it to 4 people from Ikea. If they liked our idea and our pitch me and my group might be going to Almhult (the Ikea heartland) and develop the idea further. Would be nice.

Going to see Royksopp tomorrow at local club called Berns. Robyn and Karin Dreijer are in Stockholm this weekend so there’s a fair chance that they might turn up and perform with the band, since they HAVE been known to collaborate quite heavily with Royksopp in the past.

On that note, Robyn apparently made an appearence at a Hyper Island party where me and two others were dj’ing. I feel starstruck.

Atli og Stokkhólmur — 1. hluti

Núna eru komnir ríflega 2 mánuðir síðan ég lenti í Stokkhólmi og hóf nám við Hyper Island sem Interactive Art Director. Til að vera nákvæmari þá reyndar lenti ég á Kastrup í Danmörku og tók X2000 lestina hingað til Stokkhólms því að það var 15.000 kalli ódýrara en að fljúga beint (gott að hafa í huga fyrir þá sem hyggja á heimsóknir).

5. ágúst lenti ég og skólinn hófst þann 6. ágúst. Fyrstu tvær vikurnar voru algerlega tileinkaðar því að hrista saman hópinn. Við erum rúmlega 50 nemendur í deildinni minni og eftir þessar vikur held ég að flestir hafi þekkst með nafni, vitað nafn fyrsta elskhuga téðs einstaklings og hvað hann borðar í morgunmat dagsdaglega. Það er mikið gagnsæi í Hyper Island. Það eru tvær aðrar deildir innan skólans hér í Stokkhólmi, Project Management og síðan Digital Media, sem skiptist í annars vegar útskriftarnemendur 2010 og 2011. Í heildina telst mér til að við séum ca 150 nemendur í skólanum, og skólinn sjálfur skiptist í tvö stór rými. Nemendurnir, allir með tölu, sitja í stórum sal, hver með sitt eigið borð eða “workstation” og yndislegan skrifborðstól. Ég er í óopinberu workstation stríði við bekkjarfélaga minn Filip Hammarnas.

Vinnustöðvastríð. Staða í ágúst.

Eins og sést þá hallar soldið á mig þarna. En ég er að vinna í því, þetta er staðan í ágúst. Myndir af stöðunni í dag koma bráðum.

Fyrstu vikurnar hér í Stokkhólmi bjó ég heima hjá vinum mínum Katrínu og Antoni í úthverfi Stokkhólms, Bromma. Að finna íbúð í Stokkhólmi er ógeðslega erfitt, en með hjálp góðs fólks og vina þeirra fann ég íbúð á stúdentaíbúðunum við Lappkarsberget. Íbúðin er rúmlega 80 fm, sem þykir vera höll á stokkhólmskum skala. Ég bý með tveimur öðrum, annars vegar norskum bekkjarfélaga mínum að nafni Alexander Strand og hins vegar þýskri konu sem framleiðir tónlistarmyndbönd. Mjög hip og kúl allt saman.

Ég þarf að halda áfram að læra núna, erum að vinna verkefni fyrir Ikea sem þarf að skila eftir tvær vikur, svo ég slútta þessu með rúsínu í pylsuendann. Núna á föstudaginn síðastliðinn festumst við Alexander í 45 mínútur í neðanjarðarlestinni með lífskúnstnernum Per Olaf, en hann ætlar sér að verða geimfari á næsta ári. Alexander Strand and Pero The Astronaut. Spjallið er mestmegnis á sænsku, en með enskum útskýringum.

I have started this blog, so that people that are interested in my musings can have easy access to the things I wonder about.

My name is Atli Viðar, I am 26 years old and on 6th of august I moved from Iceland to Stockholm to attend a school called Hyper Island. I will not go into further discussion about the school at this point, but both the school and it’s name will be studied further in later writings.

I will keep this first blog short and juicy. Recently I was so lucky as to have been the producer of the most awesome music video known to man, the musicvideo for Supertime by icelandic popstar Berndsen. It was shot on june 28th on a rainy sunday from about 8 in the morning untill 9 in the evening, and here are some behind the scenes photos shot by the extremely talented photographer Leó Stefánsson.
